If you’re going to use a free infection removal program, be aware that it will probably need to be updated frequently. When you’re ready to remove infection, first close any open programs, close all browser windows and disconnect from the Internet. Back up your important data before. Then allow the infection removal program to detect and get rid of the on your computer. When the infection removal software has run its course, reboot your computer and let it run again. If after the second run through the infection removal software still detects spyware, reboot and do it again. To increase your chances of removing infection, reboot your computer in “safe mode.” This is necessary because some infections are so well ingrained in the computer that they can only be removed using the most essential processes, which what “safe mode” activates. To get in “safe mode” reboot the computer and hit the F8 button a couple of times until a screen comes up that allows you to select “safe mode.” Choose this option and move forward with you infection removal. When you’ve ran the infection removal program several times in “safe mode” reboot normally and then restore your browser settings, which can be done by looking into your tools or setting menus. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall anything that has to do with the infection removal program. After you’ve finished removing infection, make sure that if you haven’t already, you install a infection prevention program so the next time you go to remove infection, you have less to remove. You’re now free to reconnect to the Internet. Once you’re back on the Internet, you can adjust your Internet security options to further protect yourself from infection. This doesn’t do anything in the way of infection removal, but it can help prevent the from getting in the computer in the first place.
